In Transit - Amsterdam

It’s true.  I haven’t been contributing to this blog, and one of the biggest reasons for that is that I’ve simply been too damned busy with organizing the trip and preparing customer deliverables in order to clear 10 or so days to cover travel and acclimatization.  The other, and probably larger reason, is that I’ve had a lot of trouble pulling a concise narrative from the maelstrom of crazy thoughts which have been inhabiting my head since, oh I don’t know, January or so.

So here goes.  We’re in a little café in Amsterdam, still at the airport.  Our travel plans were as follows: LAX to Amsterdam to Barcelona.  From there, we’d reserved a rental car, and were to drive the 2 hours from Barcelona to our new home in Céret, France.  Our landlady is waiting for us at our new place, and we’re looking very forward to meeting her.

Matters became mildly complicated when Young Max opted to come with us, and spend a few weeks with us, helping us set up shop, purchase and build office furniture, etc.
All is good, but the wheels completely fell off of our travel plans today when our flight our of LAX (on a BIG ‘OL Boeing 747) was delayed for an hour because they packed the commercial cargo units wrong, and had to empty out the entire cargo bay and repack it.

So, needless to say, we didn’t make it to Amsterdam in time to make our connector to Barcelona.  This was only made worse by the fact that I chose to bring carry-on my Canon and gear, and all of my microphones, which I didn’t trust to check.

Okay, so I'm back on @Posterous

After almost a year's hiatus, it's finally time for me to pick the blog back up.  Things have really changed since the "Blogger" days!  Back then it was easy.  There were really only 2 or 3 places that you could put your stuff.  Now there are a million.

I was a Posterous fan when they first launched, but I was eventually frustrated with their lack of decent themes (it doesn't seem to have gotten any better.. looks like I'll have to write one...) and there came a day suddenly when their servers simply couldn't handle the traffic anymore, and everything slowed to a halt.

I then became very very frustrated with Posterous when I found that while they make it very very easy for one to import a blog, they make it utterly impossible to export a blog from Posterous.  It's like the Hotel California up in here.  You can check out any time you like...

So I hosted my own blog for a while, and I enjoyed writing for a while into abject silence.  That was fun.  Anyway, I'm back.  The Posterous community seems to have grown while I was away.  There are a ton of great new blogs here, and it looks like Tumblr has really given Posterous a run for their money.  I'm digging on the software upgrades, and I think I'll enjoy it here.

For anyone who has remained subscribed, thanks a lot, and I hope you enjoy the changes you'll be seeing on this Space in the upcoming weeks.

Rock
